The Shard

One of London's newer addition, the Shard is one of those buildings that raised up and into the sky. It seems to be from anywhere and nowhere and looks disconnected from the surrounding reality.

Reminds me of the story of the Tower of Babel in the Bible. Really i much prefer London's older structures, but i'm a relic myself!;)

That and the "pickle" look truly odd on the London skyline.

Wasn't it financed from one of the princes in the Middle East? The sort with more money than he knows what to do with?

It doesn't look like it fits in at all...

"Let's build a tower that reaches up to heaven and make a name for ourselves." These building spring up worldwide and few are attractive.
Your picture however is the best I have seen of the Shard. It really is good. Most are taken from a distance.

Hi William
Well observed! The Shard was build with money from Qatar. The Qatari prime minister came for its inauguration. Its building cost an estimated £1.5 billion. (Source: The Telegraph)
